Biographical Notes

Son of Thomas and Mary Ann LIVINGSTONE. Brother of Alexander Reuel LIVINGSTONE and Eric Joseph LIVINGSTONE who were both killed in action. Brother Robert Heaton LIVINGSTONE also served in WWI; another brother, Henry Gillies LIVINGSTONE, was stationed as adjutant to the C. Y. C. (1917). tom was educated at Timaru Main School and in Christchurch. Tom was a member of the Australian Expeditionary Force which occupied German New Guinea. Thomas embarked per Karoola for Australia at Suez on 4 November 1915 and disembarked on 4 December 1915 for discharge. Married Mary Elizabeth after return to Australia. On 7 February 1916 his brother Eric Joseph wrote to the Australian Base Records Officer concerning Thomas. His parents had corresponded at greater length previously [too faint to read]. Further letter in 1921 (writer unknown). In February 1918 a pension was being paid to Thomas and to his wife, at "Selbourne", Eastern Avenue, Kensington. And a letter was returned to Australia for Thomas after he himself had returned on 4 December 1915.
