Biographical Notes

Miles Alfred (known as Alfred)Knubley was the son of Miles Jefferson (1851-1938) and Harriet Henryetta Knubley (nee Clissold, 1853-1914) of Timaru, New Zealand.

Prioir to enlisting Alfred was managing the Bank of NSW at Lautoka, Fiji, but was granted leave by the bak to return home to enlist.Alfred served until 1916, when he died of wounds recieved in action in France.

A trsnscript of Alfeed's letters, produced by his family, is held by the South Canterbruy Museum.
