Biographical Notes

Son of Francis & Eugenie Elizabeth (nee HUDDLESTON) HAYTER, of Rollesby Station, Burkes Pass, Fairlie. Brother Cyril HAYTER d. WWI. Brother Chilton HAYTER also served in WWI. Late father was Captain HAYTER, naval officer. 17 October 1918 he married Muriel MORTIMER-SCOTT, at St Mary Abbot's Church, Kensington, London, England. At this time he was Lieutenant. On active service from beginning of the war & considerable service practically throughout the war. His only child, Joyce, was born in 1919 in England. April 1920 returning to New Zealand. Discharded January 1920.
