Biographical Notes

"Sergeant James Edward Carmichael, killed in action, was formerly a member of the Auckland City Fire Brigade. He was residing in Dunedin when he enlisted." (Auckland Weekly MNews, 8 Nov 1917, p22). Son of Sarah Wilson (formerly Carmichael), of Esk Valley, St Andrews, and the late James Carmichael.
