Biographical Notes

George Brown was the eldest son (of ten children), born to William and Frances Brown (nee Borell) of Waihao Downs, Waimate; husband of Elizabeth Brown of Christchurch.

George died on the first day of the battle of Messines on 7 June 1917 - one of the nearly 5,000 NZEF casulaties during the week of fighting.
