23 May 1916 - gun shot wound in action (skull frontal wound) & admitted to No.8 Casulaty Clearing Station (CCS); 24 May 1916 0- admitted to No.13 General Hospital, Boulogne, France; 9 June 1916 - embarked for England, where he was admitted To King George Hospital London on 11 June; 24 July 1916 - transferred to NZ Military Hospital, Wellington. 9 August 1916 - admitted To NZ Company Camp, Christchurch. 12 August 1916 - invalided to NZ on the Willochra, and struck off strenght as "No Longer Physically Fit For War Or Home Service". 29 November 1916 - Following the proceedings of a Medical Board Dunn was discahrged. It noted his consequential disabilities of his gun shot wound to his skull as being "Depressed scar with discharging sinus, Slight interference with speech," His progress was noted as stationary, requiring further treatment, totally incapacitating him in regards to earning a full livelihhood at the time.
