Biographical Notes

Late of Peel Forest, Canterbury. Elder son of George James & Emily (nee RUSSELL) DENNISTOUN, of Peel Forest. Attended Scotsburn School & Wanganui Collegiate School. Went to England about March 1914 & obtained a Commission in the North Irish Horse. Was an Imperial Officer in WWI. Joined the Forces in England. Went to the front in November 1915. Was for a time an intelligence officer. He was shot down on the Western Front & taken prisoner. Brother George Hamilton DENNISTOUN also served in WWI, in the Royal Navy. Member of Scott's Expedition in 1910. Mountaineer, Left a will which was not filed until 1943. [See BIO.]
